This card is going to the late Carlene Prichard's husband. Part of this Teapot challenge was to combine at least 3 older challenges. I used an older sketch challenge, the faux woodgrain Mixabilities challenge, & the Ways to Use It Material Girl (fabric) challenge.
I cut a panel of white cardstock to A2 size. I scored the planks with a stylus & my score board. I made the first line 1/8" from the left edge, then scored lines 1/2" from there, which left me with an 1/8" "plank" on the right side. Yes, I sometimes like symmetry!
I went around & around about what color ink to use for the woodgrain effect. I wanted something masculine & not too bright/bold, but not too dull & somber, either. Finally, I chose Faded Jeans Distress ink. I dragged the inkpad vertically along my panel to create the grainy look.
For the banner, I wanted to use fabric, so I pulled out some iron-on clothing patches I have had FOREVER! I chose a brown twill one, cut it to size, & then literally just ironed it onto the background.
I heat embossed the greeting onto a dark brown cardstock (another agonizing color-deciding session), & die cut it with an oval die. Finally, I glued that in place, & adhered the panel to a white card base.

Wonderful masculine card with the colors and design. I love that you used blue for the bg -- it's so peaceful and is perfect combined with the brown tones. So clever to use the iron-on patch. Lovely card.
