I die cut the parts for the bird from scraps of black, grey, white, & taupe cardstocks, then glued them together. I die cut the thanks word from a "failed" inky technique piece I'd done previously, & cut the shadow layer from white cardstock. I die cut the word a couple more times from white cardstock, then I glued those & the blue thanks together & glued them to the shadow layer.
For the background, I ink blended a panel of watercolor paper with Uncharted Mariner Distress ink. I spritzed it with water droplets, let that sit for a few seconds, & picked up the water & ink with a paper towel. I had to repeat the ink blending/spritzing/picking up process in 1 or 2 spots, because I initially picked up more ink than I wanted.
I adhered my background to a white card base. I glued my chickadee standing on on the "n" & with his tail tucked behind the "k." Then I glued the whole thanks/bird piece to my card. Finally, I added a highlight to the bird's eye with a white gel pen.
