Karen is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us a palette that makes me think of spring and flowers: Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz. The dessert option this week is ribbon. Since I always want dessert, I substituted Bashful Blue for Balmy Blue, because that's the ribbon I have!
I wanted to stamp with brown archival ink, but alas! My archival inks seem to have gone walkabout for the moment. It was a happy accident, though. I stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink, thinking that it is colorfast for watercoloring. Well, it is and it isn't! Strangely, although the outline stayed crisp and clear, the interior of the leaves and petals ran just enough to impart some lovely reddish-brown hues to the leaves.
Wanting to combine the heather and blue colors, I invented a new flower, one with purple at the base of the petals, changing to blue at the tips. I kind of like it!
I die cut the watercolor panel, dry embossed the blue layer, sponged the edges of both with Bashful Blue ink, mounted the design panel with foam tape, and added a few lavender gems, and of course, the bow for dessert.
Thanks for taking a peek! Please join us in the Color Challenge this week, and share your creation in the gallery for us all to enjoy!

This reminds me of Bob Ross. There are only happy accidents, but with oils, it's much easier to "erase" your boo boo. Creating a card is much different, but I'm glad that you like how this turned out, and I do as well! Your pretty bloom actually seems to be popping off the page, and that is hard to create. So kudos to you for trying something different and succeeding, Barbara~

Wonderful. I enjoyed reading about your process. No mistakes in the stamp room, just opportunities to experiment, embellish or invent new techniques. Love how you kept at it and created this beautiful card! The coloring is so cool. The embossing and stitched edges are terrific. Nicely done!
