Janelle's MIX challenge (MIX516: It's Snow Quiet by dizzymommie at Splitcoaststampers) was absolutely perfect for a Christmas card for my sister. Her gifts were mailed last week, but I've had almost no crafting time till a day off today. Sadly their black lab now has added complications on top of diabetes and twice-daily injections and may not make Christmas, but she said she would like a black lab card no matter which way things pan out. So I made this with a peaceful feel and snow.
Took a gel print on deli paper from my stash, stencilled the snow on with white acrylic. Smeared Stickles all over it for sparkle, which you can't really see but gets me in on mixed media. Die-cut the tree twice and inlaid the green with white. Added torn strips for snow along the bottom and edged them with Stickles. Finished it off with a glitter gold star on the tree and my black lab dressed for the unseasonably bitter weather we are having right now.

Beautiful Christmas card! Love the sweet lab in his/her sweater and your snowy background. I don't know what an X-cut is but it sure makes an awesome black lab image.

That background! Be still my heart. The scene makes me so happy but so sad with the story behind it. My heart still feels lost without my dachshunds. Love this so much!
