I cut my watercolor paper panel slightly larger than A2 size, so I could tape it to a cutting board. I used my watercolors to paint kind of a Northern lights background, then let that dry. After I cut it down to A2 size, I splattered on white paint for stars. I didn't want to cover up my background, but it was too busy for the greeting. So I heat embossed my greeting on a panel of vellum, & used embroidery floss along the top to stitch it to my card front. Finally, I adhered my panel to a white card base.
