Diane is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has nudged me temporarily out of Holiday Zone, and into some thoughts of spring and flowers. The colors this week are Gorgeous Grape, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party, with the dessert option of "Sparkle."
I made my own DS paper in this week's colors, using all Distress Oxide inks, including liberal use of our permitted neutral colors. The stencils are called Blooming Flower Bed, from Altenew. I used the equivalent of Mossy Meadow to give some shading and depth to the leaves. I also colored the dots with a match for Night of Navy.
I cut the greeting once from Tahitian Tide and twice from white and stacked them, then mounted to a square of vellum. My first serving of dessert is the very fine sparkly frame around the DS paper.
Are you wondering about the title for this card? I got this great idea of dotting some white calligraphy ink through the tiny holes in the stencil in the centers of the purple flowers. Well! Ink does not stay put like embossing paste; it goes where it wants to go. What a disaster! :-( One of my favorite sayings in papercraft is that mistakes are opportunities for embellishment. Right! I pulled out these sparkly gold gems and put one in the center if each purple flower. You almost can't see the boo-boos!
And now, back to making too many last-minute Christmas cards!

Barbara using a stencil is a splendid idea for using Diane's colors! This is a very cheerful card! Yes, there are no mistakes in crafting... it would have been a perfect secret if you hadn't spilled the beans! Teehee! Love it all Barbara!

Love how our "mistakes" lead us to sometimes even better design elements. I think your sparkly gold gems look great and they tie in the gold glitter paper layer beautifully. So, perfect save. Love you floral design and the shading in the stenciling. Wonderful card and so nice to see a bit of Spring right now.
