First let me say that I never look at the challenge gallery before I paint so I won't be influenced by other cards. - This morning I did happen to catch Stacy's card and, in my naivete, left a comment that said in part "Gnomes are such homey creatures - how hard can they be?" Now I am sitting here laughing like crazy cause these creatures are also incredibly contrary!!
I thought the artist's "fingerprint feet" were brilliant - Thank heavens I decided to try that technique on the back of a discarded painting first. . . I ended up a with a page full of drippy misshapen globs none of which even vaguely resembled the bottom of a foot / shoe (more uncontrollable laughing) so painting 2 not quite ovals is my choice today.
The slouch hat that I was most worried about turned out to be the easiest - I like the kind of wrinkled effect through the center - Now to the beard - in my mind I visualized a light fluffy ethereal puff of hair (more uncontrollable laughter) but I guess my gnome has been living on the street or under a bridge for way too long and what he ended up with is a dirty matted down snowsuit (yes - laughter)
Finished with a stamped sentiment and pine branch, sponged the painting with Peeled Paint and added a Christmas red matting. One of my un-crafty friends will think this is amazing!

Oh, thanks for the good belly laugh you gave me today. Took a break for lunch and came to see if anyone added to the watercolor gallery today. Low and behold there is this fun gnome painted by you. Your deets had me laughing so hard. This is what happened when I painted my gnome. Gosh he was ugly, but sure had fun. Thanks for sharing your experience. You added a delightful card to the gallery. You can send him to Wisconsin. I will frame him.

Oh, I love your card with the added branch and cute gnome. About how she did the feet, I didn't do that, either, and now I am saying mine is running in the snow. His feet kind of look like it, hopefully. Yes, I needed a chuckle today, so thanks for your fun post.

I am grinning of course, my beard was so light I had to add hairs to it so it could be seen. My hat was a disaster and the foot prints worked for me but, I hated the paint on my finger so, the one I uploaded is painted ovals and I am chuckling because, yours looks super and if you had not wrote the story I would have no clue.

Linda, love your story - sounds like most my card making adventures lately. Love the hat and that cute face. Your pine bough is a great idea too. I bet whoever gets this will love it. Hugz

Oh, Linda, thank you for the laughter today! I was laughing at what you were saying, not your painting. You are a real trooper to continue and just go with it. He looks like a baby gnome who is learning how to sit, so Cute. Love the greenery and Merry Christmas~

Linda, I think I enjoyed your description as much as your card. Started my day with a smile. Your gnome in his swathing garment is adorable and your did a great job watercoloring him and the pine branch.

Loving the card AND your story about it! I can see everything you said but you did not mention how SUCCESSFUL your fingers are. Great (and very fun) gnome.
