Whenever I go to Goodwill, my first stop is the art wall. I look for small items that I could recycle. I bought this little piece on my last foray, I'll tell you all about it in a moment. I'm submitting it for today's F4A (quick cards) and yesterday's WT (adding dimension).
I took a page out of Anita's and Niki's book by using something that was 3D collaged. Did I made the center piece?? Nope, it was made by Anton Pieck, a Holland artist, born in 1895, died in 1937. From his youth, he was attracted to the old parts of Amsterdam and used his ability to cut and create collages of everyday people. I suspect this father and son, judging that they are both wearing patched clothing, are heading to a market to sell some vintage pieces. He also created a theme park in Holland called Efteling which, in 1995, was voted the most 'child friendly' park in the world.
I thought this little piece of art was charming, lots of little details. The hardest part was getting it out of the little frame. The mat was part of the art, it looked a little dingy so I decided to stencil it and then spray it for more dimension. Easy peasy and quick. The frame is popped up.
The man must be quite strong as he is carrying the little boy AND all his wares. He is trusting the little boy to not drop that hurricane lamp. I think I see a cat at the top of the pack. Thanks for the challenges.

Ah Jean, this is amazing! I love how you repurposed this great piece of art. How astute of you to visit the picture walls in a Goodwill store. On my visits to similar stores, I head for the book shelves first.
I love all the details in this piece of art. The klompen (wooden shoes), the patched clothing, the copper kettle, which was a staple, the wooden wash bucket, and so much more. I love what you did with the frame too. This is a keeper!

I can see why you would have picked this up. It's sweet, so many details to look at. Great work on the frame, picking up on the little patches of blue.
