Today's Ways to Use It Challenge is about ombre. My favorite way to get an easy ombre effect is to grab a paint sample card (I'm not good at ink blending). I needed a birthday card for my BIL, who is an avid camper and hiker. I have some very old, tiny Sizzix dies that allowed me to evoke a little camping theme. I cut circles in the paint chip for areas to create little scenes. (this particular paint sample card is from Sherwin Williams and was usually long -- the trees are actually cut from a darker strip at the bottom of the chip that I trimmed off). The sentiment is copper-embossed on a torn slip of vellum.

Very cute camping scene..I love the way you did the cut outs. Your paint samples are great for an ombre look...I have a couple of those and forget to use them.

I have always wanted to do a paint chip card and can never remember to pick one up when I am at the hardware store. The last room we painted my MIL picked out the paint chips and they added additional paint to them so they were not great with the additional splotches of paint. I love your paint chip for the camping themed birthday card.

SO clever and creative to use a paint chip card as the basis for your wonderful camping scene. Great birthday card for someone who loves the out-of-doors.

this is cute... I've used paint chips for years. I usually try to put some kind of die cut or embellishment over the actual paint description. These make great backgrounds. I have found though, that when cutting a small die from the paint chips, that you really have to use a very tacky glue or they won't stick very well to cardstock. I usually pick up a few of the chips that have texture on them too - they make great cuts. Great card !
