Time for a new Color Challenge and this one is hosted by Karen. Her beautiful color choices are: Crushed Curry, Orchid Oasis, Old Olive with dessert option for a creative way to use ribbon.
As I thought about the colors, this stamp of iris flowers came to mind. I heat embossed the image in black on watercolor paper and then used ink and a water painter to watercolor it. I did a little wash at the bottom and stamped a few speckles. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on the Orchid Oasis card base.
For the Dessert option, I started playing with the ribbon and I came upon the idea of twisting it. I was not sure if it would work on a card or quite how to attach it. So, I scored some lines on the left side, laid down some thin Scor-tape (super sticky) in between the scored lines, twisted the ribbon and then laid it down on the tape with the scored lines to guide me. It worked beautifully. The sheer part of the ribbon glistens in the light. Always fun to be challenged to try something new!
I trimmed and matted the image and attached to the card base. The final touch was some Wink of Stella on the iris petals. Wonderful colors! I look forward to seeing what you create and your ideas for ribbon if you want dessert. Have fun! TFL

Gorgeous!!! That's such a creative yet subtle look with the ribbon. That iris brings back some memories but I was surprised it was before the gallery here.

I have to hand it to you Diane, your twisted ribbon takes the cake! I love the pretty iris too but you've inspired me to use this ribbon technique! Totally cool idea! TFS

Diane, I love that you used the Orchid color for an iris--it's a perfect color for that! Love the layout you used and the oh-so creative-use of ribbon!

What lovely irises!! My mother's favorite flowers in her garden. When I see them, I think of her (and miss her more).
