This week's challenge was to paint autumn twigs in a vase. Here is the Tutorial:
The artist painted Autumn branches but I don't have need of many fall colored cards so chose to make mine more spring or summer oriented but following the same technique.
I loosely sketched my drawing then started with a pale apple green wash. While it was still damp, I added some bits of Garden green nearer the stems and finished with generic leaf shapes in a deeper green I had mixed on my palette. I mixed up some brown & black and using a #4 LONG round brush painted in my twiggy stems. Tapped in some rose colored berries (or could be buds) along the stems then spattered with rose and Teal and shaped my vase with Paynes grey.
I framed my painting with a scalloped edge and will add a sentiment in the upper area when I decide if this is to become a birthday or Anniversay card.

That's a spring beauty. I think this challenge works for all seasons. Glad to see you do something different.
