The Tea Potters are sending bits of geography to a class of 9 yr olds in France which is studying places around the world. What a fun idea Anita had for us to send cards about our home countries or states.
Well, like so many projects this one "evolved". I was going to do a card with our State Flower, the poppy, and then remembered I had that neat bear image and since our mountains are my fav place in State, I had to include those. I printed the mountains and bear onto Canson and then watercolored to represent sky, mountains, fields and ocean. The bear reminded me of our State Flag so I added the text and the red bar which is how it appears on the flag. I will include some facts and figures (such as CA has the highest point in the continental US (Mt. Whitney) as well as the lowest (Death Valley)) in my note.
I'm not that happy with this. The colors are TOO bright and after I added the flag bar I wished I had skipped the ocean and left that part white. And, the flower placement...meh. That's what happens sometimes when projects evolve. I had already colored this twice and hubby said the bright was good since it was for kids. So, here it is.
I hope the children enjoy learning about distant places from the fun cards headed their way. I would love to be in that class learning along with them. Hope everyone is having a great day. TFL.

I absolutely LOVE this card. I feel that it represents our beautiful state very well. The tallest mountain in the background kind of reminds me of Mount Whitney. The poppy and bear are perfection. I added this card to my favorites and my Pinterest board dedicated to California. TFS

There's no such thing as too bright, Debbie. This card is awesome! You hit all the things with it and the kids are going to love it! And I just learned about the highest and lowest points in the country. It's a win-win.
