I spent a part of yesterday, World Card Making Day creating cards from leftovers. I found some heat embossed birthday cakes that needed to be used, which worked out nice for Angie's challenge. To get inspired, I looked in this stamp set gallery and found a terrific card made by Roberta aka stampin'nana:
I loved how she created the background. I saw the opportunity to use up some retired DSP and to create three backgrounds at one time. I eyeballed the dimensions. I cut three panels of DSP from three different patterns, stacked them together and made two diagonal cuts. Cutting the panels together ensured the cuts were in the exact same spot. Then I laid out the pieces exchanging among the patterns to create three backgrounds adhering each on one of the colors in the DSP.
Then I watercolored the cakes in the coordinating colors, stamped additional HB sentiments, added a gem to the flower center and Wink of Stella sparkle on the cake, and die-cut into stitched rectangles. Fun project for WCMD.
I used the trimmings from the DSP to decorate panels for the inside. I was inspired by Betty aka gabbygal to take the extra effort to jazz up the inside. She does fabulous work with both the insides and outsides of her cards!
Thanks Roberta and Betty for inspiring my cards and for sharing your beautiful work with us. Happy Card-making! TFL

Wow, Diane, these look really pretty! I'm so honored that you found inspiration in a card I made 11 years ago. I Love the look of your birthday cakes and how you made each one a little bit differently. Those papers are really nice, and I still have some of them too~

Diane these are fabulous! I love the insides, too. I just pinned this beautiful set. Love the design, the colors, and the way you put the strips on the inside. Extremely pleasing design...

PS: I'm honored to know you are fussing with the insides as a compliment to my work!!!
