I'm pretty proud of myself today for a massive reuse/upcycling project I did. My wife got one of those Hallmark fancy cards for her birthdayâe"the kind that pops apart into 5 layers and stands up and even plays music. She was ready to toss it after it had graced our tv cabinet card display location for several months, so I stashed it on my desk to come back later and see how I could recycle it.
Today was the day! If you have ever closely examined thes cards, you know that you lose a fair amount of the real estate to glued spots, dimensional foam bits, and the heavily glued in music player. Once I pulled it apart, I had pieces of layers that would go for four cards. But there was a lot of leftover bits, especially with foiling on them, that seemed a shame to waste. So I got out three sizes of circle punches and punched out everything useable, and made four more cards, for eight total, and nothing left at the end but some beat up little paper bits and the music works.
I wish I'd taken a picture of the original card before commencing surgery on it, but I'm pretty happy with all these designs and I have several birthday, all purpose, and Christmas cards for my stash!
