I've sketched my own pumpkins and did it a bit my way.
After the sketching, I've started with the dark sky (4 layers of color) and then the field, wanted to lay my pumpkins in a straw bed, so did some criss cross strokes and highlighted with the white gel pen, When I see pumpkins here (and I did grow some my self long time ago with giant seeds) there is always a bit of green.
Don't ask me why at the end I've added these black birds, maybe because pumpkins make me think about Halloween.

Super job sketching those pumpkins, Anita. I love the shapes and the field. I do see some green in some of ours, too, when I go to visit a pumpkin patch. I see different shades of oranges, some almost white.

Anita, your painting is wonderful with more the earth tones than the black. We all like different techniques and colors. Makes life interesting. You recreated your painting from remembering pumpkin patches. Like the added green. Happy you played and gave us this beauty for the gallery.
I added a touch of green down away from the stem a bit, myself. I may have covered it up too much but I let the stem bleed at the top of the pumpkin because I too was thinking that pumpkins usually have some green. Your blackbirds caught my eye first, I think they are a lovely addition to your Fall painting! I like that you added straw to your ground! Beautiful!

Great pumpkins, sky, and birds, Anita. Your Fall scene is super. Hugz
