This is my card for alpha challenge round 17 letter J - jewels, and for MMJ422. The prompts I used are: something torn, stencil, modeling paste, complementary colors (blue & orange), and for the technique - mirror image, I deviated a bit & used punched birds instead of stamping, also flipping their colors.
I tore the corrugated cardboard, and then stenciled some modeling paste on it. Once that was dry, I added some watercolor pencil and blended it out with a waterbrush. I also added some vintage photo ink on the edges and ridges. I added the blue and orange on the outer edges of the card base before gluing down the cardboard. The branches were die cut from cereal box chipboard and then inked with vintage photo. I trimmed them to fit on the cardboard underneath, then added the birds. I used jewels for the bird eyes. The white dots are paint applied with a stylus, and I doodled on the birds and on the orange along the torn edge. Stamped the sentiment and done.

Hey Melody:
Double WOW for the pretty birds. I love how you switched the birds colors and those sweet doodles along the torn edge. The texture in the background is so earthy. Into my favs……SuZ

This has so much wonderful texture, Melody. You are really using the cardboard so wonderfully and I like the texture you added to it too. Lovely complementary birds and pretty card.

Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous! I love all of it. The colors and texture were the first to make me stare open-mouthed for ever...I am speechless. Love the added brown on the cardboard to make it look like the bark of a tree. So beautiful!
