This week's featured technique is Starry Night Skies by artist Kolbie Blume
This turned out to be a super easy way to paint a night sky! First painting random blobs of blue onto wet paper interspersed with more water gave me a night sky filled with interesting cloud shapes and gorgeous variations of color and highlights. I only used 3 colors today - Royal blue, Night of Navy and Black. I was a bit nervous about the tree technique called scumbling but I absolutely LOVE the resulting trees!! THE easiest, most realistic looking pines I think I've ever painted, and they took less than 2 minutes to complete. Even my splatters (which I often struggle with) turned out exceptionally well today. I'd highly recommend this video to learn night sky painting.

Linda, you created such a beautiful night sky and I love your comet. The trees look great. Good job scumbling. It's a wonderful Christmas card.

Linda, this is sooooooo beautiful. I love the colors you used, your shooting star is my favorite one anyone did, and your scumbling is really great. Fab! Hugz

Wow, this is exquisite! I love the colors in your sky. Your sky looks like it has a 4th color in it, I think that is one of the wonders of watercolor! Your trees look fantastic and I like that you added a shooting star!! I am so glad you enjoyed the challenge!
