I googled "Hello in Kanji" and this is what it gave me. I hope that's what it says! DH's calligraphy club is doing an around the world Artist Trading Card swap this year. September's country is Japan. So I'm getting a head start on that one. The paper is some DH had in his stash and it is a very high quality, traditional stenciling method used. I love the pattern on this one. To me, it looks like Zentangle.
I ran the Kanji through the printer on glossy white. The card base and trim is glossy black (a file folder from Staples). The tassel was in my stash. I used black nail polish to paint a toothpick for the embellishment.
This Artist Trading Card is for my Kaligrafos (Dallas Calligraphy Guild) ATC swap--we're going around the world in 180 days.
The red is not a part of the card, but I thought using it for the staging made it look like traditional Japanese art.

That is beautiful paper - I like the aerial perspective on umbrellas. Cool that you were able to combine the challenge with an upcoming need - that's always a bonus.

Oh my! This is wonderful! I love that paper and have a stash of it myself. So beautiful and hard to use. You have used it perfectly here and a backdrop to your imaginative and creative embellishments. Hat's off to you!

That paper is absolutely beautiful and it deserves to be the main attraction on this fabulous ATC. You did a good job of bringing in other elements to complement it.
