The Gang of Three all met many, many years ago on a two month camping holiday Around Australia by bus. Yes you heard it - camping and travelling by bus for two months. Aren't you all jealous. All complete strangers and one of them was ME. All three of us hit it off right from the beginning and became very, very good friends. Sadly we are only a Gang of Two now. Only just a couple of weeks ago the two of us were sitting reminiscing about this trip and all the places we had visited and the mischief we got up to. Wondering how we would cope with sleeping in tents in sleeping bags? The bodies are just not built for that now. Yes I might get down on the ground and into the sleeping bag - but I don't think I would ever get up again.
I know that both of us would love to be back there - enjoying the beautiful places we visited. Seeing the outback sky at night while sitting around a camp fire is just so special.
Hope you enjoy.
This card shows the Australian Outback at sunset. I think my computer doesn't understand the strong, rich Australian colours - so the sunset is just so much richer and colourful in real life.

Helen, your story makes me think it should be made into a movie or book. It sounds super fun. I am with you - I could get in the bag on the ground, but getting up after a night on the ground would be horrible if not impossible. Last weekend, I met an 85 year old man who sleeps on the floor every night - I jfelt pain just thinking about it!
About your card - it is just beautiful. Great image and your coloring is amazing. BEAUTIFUL work. Hugz

Stunning colouring and card Helen.
Now I’d love to hear your stories about travelling around Oz with 2 strangers. That would have been such fun. It reminds me of my first trip to Europe on an Autotours 10 week camping trip. I was the only Pom amongst Aussies, South Africans and Canadians along the way. Now I’m not sure I could share all of my stories lol. It did put me off camping sleeping on the floor lol. I love camp fires. Thanks for sharing. Happy day over East

What a lovely story and what fabulous memories you must have. I would love to travel around Australia for several months, minus the camping in a tent part. I would also love to see a beautiful vibrant Oz sunset like on your card.

Oh, beautiful! Your tree reminds me of the big eucalpytus we had in our garden when I was growing up - except that it branched too high for us to climb. But it was so big it looked like several trees - just like the canopy in this one. That sounds like an amazing trip - with abiding good memories.

What a great story, thanks for sharing with us. I absolutely love your scene with the knotted tree overhanging the water, and that sunset with its layered colors is amazing!!!
