For this week's Ways to Use It, we are highlighting local landmarks or something well known about the area where you live. I live near Louisville, KY, which is the center of the universe on the first Saturday of May, when we host a little horse race called The Kentucky Derby. I've only lived here two years, and this was the first year since the Pandemic started that most of the events associated with the Derby have been held, so it's all still new to me. So new, in fact, that I don't own any relevant images and had to turn to a tourism brochure for help. The diamond patterned papers reminded me of racing silks. (The other option for a local landmark was bourbon; there are something like 70 bourbon distilleries in the state and most offer tours. We've toured several distilleries, and each was is different, which sort of surprised me.)

I guess I forgot that you now live in KY...This is perfect for a landmark...good thing you had a brochure about racing. I love the patterned papers! Interesting about the bourbon...that's a lot of distilleries! TFS!

When the Derby was not being held, I was standing in the winner's circle with my grandfather, and he suddenly reached down and plucked a four leafed clover. I still have it! KY is a beautiful state (I grew up in Cinci), and was in KY a lot since it was so close. I love the way you represented the "silks" on your pretty card!

It was very clever of you to nab that brochure and turn it into such a cool card. The diamond print totally reminded me of the racing silks too (although after reading your post, I had to look it up to understand that was the proper name).

I just love that image. I have never been to the Kentucky Derby....I should add that to my bucket list of places to go. Wonderful card with that great image too.
