The alpha challenge for letter F was to use foil. I'm not a big fan of anything sparkly or glitzy on my cards, so even though I used some foil tape, I did my best to hide it.
I've been thinking about trying this technique to see if it would work. First I covered my card stock with foil tape, and then embossed it with a 3D embossing folder. The next step was to color on a bit of gelato. I used 2 different blues. Next I painted gesso over the card, completely covering the foil. Once that was dry, I used a sanding block to lightly go over the raised areas of the embossing, which removed some of the gesso and color, and allowed the shiny foil to peek through. Success! A little bit, but not too much shine.
I added the sentiment. Then for the ribbon, I glued a piece of blue grosgrain ribbon to card stock. Then using tape to hold the silver thread to the back of the card stock, I wound the thread around the ribbon and card stock, and then glued that to the card.
