Our hostess described the Gallery of this week's Featured Stamper, Candy (aka stampcandy), as "eye candy" and she was so right. It's a wonderfully crafted Gallery with much to inspire like this beautiful card Purply Blue Bird by stampcandy at Splitcoaststampers. I need a birthday card for a friend who loves purple, flowers and birds so this seemed perfect today. I changed the images and the placement of the bird, the shape of the center frame and orientation.
I love to try to recreate the look of dp and the lovely dp on this card is the main reason I chose it to CASE. And though I have a gazillion floral stamps, I didn't have the perfect shape, size; and though I have a million leaf stamps, I didn't have the perfect shape, size. But these two came the closest. To make the bg, I first stamped the leaves with the white pigment ink than stamped the flower. To make sure the pigment ink didn't smear, I clear embossed the entire front. As usual, this card morphed from one idea to another. If I had known I would end up framing a single flower, I would have stamped the flower in a different position. But since I didn't and I didn't, I turned the card to landscape to allow a bit more room for the bird and foliage. The frame was die cut initially with the Spellbinders die and then again with the HA square die to create an open frame. I had this bird already colored from another project. I was going to use him just to see if I liked the size, but I liked the way the blue looked against the purples so he stayed,
Congratulations Candy on being Featured Stamper. Your Gallery is wonderful and I will be back for second helpings, I'm sure. I hope you enjoy your week and all the beautiful cards you will inspire. Hope everyone is having a beautiful day. TFL

Great color mix and I love how you made the background. It is funny how we can have 5,000 flower stamps and feel none of them are exactly correct. YOurs looks exactly correct. Beautiful case, Debbie. Hugz

I loved reading about your techniques as you created this gorgeous hand-stamped background!! I love how beautiful your blue bird looks against the purple background. Your friend will just adore this, I'm sure!
