I have a cute story for you all...you know me, I like stories. A few weeks ago, I met with some 4th graders with whom I had been penpals this school year. They had interview questions for me and one was 'would you rather go back or forward 100 years?' I said forward...which they agreed with me because of all the things we wouldn't have 100 years ago, like phones. I assured them that 100 years ago, there were telephones and then one of them said, 'when you were young, did you have a flip phone?' I laughed and then I explained that I had a phone similar to my phone background stamp, no dial though; we were on a party line and an operator handled our calls.
In 1952, Harry S Truman was President, Elizabeth II became Queen, and the Detroit Lions were NFL champions (I can't quite believe that!). I made myself a birthday card because I will be 70 on August 1. I am quite excited about it because 1) I love my birthday and 2) I'd rather be 70 than not be 70. This was my inspiration: https://store.almanac.com/socks-im-not-old-im-vintage/
I've never made myself a birthday card but I think I deserve one this year. I'm not as old as Mona or the lovely 30's lady and thank goodness I don't look like my Grandma did at my age. She wore shoes just like those old ladies in black. When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple (actually purple isn't a favorite color of mine). Have you heard of that poem?

Yes, I have heard of the poem and I loved your story you told about the kids. Cool card and it is great you were penpals with 4th graders this year.

bfnm...how special you've spent a few seasons with the 4th graders! What fun. The rotary phone bg is quite interesting. Couldn't help but notice that the pattern background is an actual phone book listing! Vibrant and thoughtful...I'd say you definitely are closer to Mona. Such exuberant art here today!

Yes, I've heard of that poem too and it's been a long time since I've heard/seen anyone else mention it. I love your birthday card. I think we all should make one to ourselves.
