Being raised in the Pacific Northwest near the ocean, spending at day at the beach means the ocean is definitely the scenery. I thought I'd give my youngest son a day off to enough the waves at the beach, after all, he was the only one of the four children who never lived in Hawaii where ocean beaches were very much a part of everyday life!
I used the Stampin' Up Waves of Inspiration stamps with coordinating Waves Dies with Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, and Night of Navy inks.
I had a problem while making the card. I was stamping my tiny seagulls on the prepared card front, and my stamp block got ink on its edge, which transferred to my card front next to two of my seagulls! Whoa as me...not the first time I've had this problem with tiny stamped objects! So not to lose all my carefully ink waves, which I thought turned out rather spectacular, I fussy-cut the wave off and prepared a new card front with its Balmy Blue brushed ink blending, I glued my waves to the bottom of my new card front.
I decided not to re-stamp my seagulls, as I just didn't want to chance the same problem, so I practice drawing my own seagulls with a fine mechanical pencil and then flicking with Copic markers in T5, T4, T2. It worked so well, and I could make them larger or smaller as desired! I think I'll use this idea in the future!
I was originally making this a birthday card, as I never have enough birthday cards. I stamped with Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (retired). When finished, I realized it is a great masculine card, so I with my computer, I changed my sentiment to Father's Day, which we will celebrate June 26th!
My search for possible challenges that might fit an ink-blended ocean card spotted 14 challenges. They are listed below:
2) S2S22JUN - Stamp 2 Save Challenge/ Male & ABCs - 6/4/22. My masculine ocean scene card is a Father's Day card for my youngest son. My consecutive letter elements are: MNOP--M=masculine, markers, monochromatic (blues); N=neutral color, Night of Navy, new product (to me); O=ocean; P=Popped.
3) AOCC22 - All Occasion Card Challenge/ June 2022 - 6/1/22. An ongoing/monthly challenge that encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards more timely! This is a much needed Father's Day card for my youngest son.
4) USEIT2022 - Use It Challenge/ June 2022 - 6/1/22. An ongoing/ annual challenge that requires you to use OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased, never used, and seemingly forgotten! OLD/NEW item): Waves of Inspiration stamps/ dies. I purchased these back in February and finally opened the package to use them!
5) ABC16W23 - Alphabet Challenge--Round 16 / Water - 4/20/22. Challenge: A card specifically all about water in some way...image, water processing, water scene, etc.
6) DINSP0322 - Fan Club Monthly Themes--March 2022/ Gone with the Wind - 3/15/22. I was inspired by the blue sky, wind and water in the picture inspiration for my card. My ocean scene is full of sky, ocean waters and wind (there is almost always a breeze when near the Pacific Northwest oceans).
7) MIX463 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Gift of Love - 12/10/21. Challenge: use your favorite mediums. I used dye-based stamping and blending ink (water-based) and Copic alcohol markers (on hand-drawn seagulls).
SC873 - Sketch Challenge - 9/29/21. My sketch tweak: My wave represents the #3 right triangle, but I have flipped it to start from the left bottom corner rather than the right bottom corner.
9) IC778 - Inspiration Challenge/ Beijos - 10/31/20. Challenge: find inspiration on their website or Pinterest Boards. Here is my inspiration...a party at the beach for Father's Day: Father's Day at the Beach!
10) WT770 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ In the Shadows - 12/12/19. Challenge: Add shadows to your card...a shadow stamp, coloring, or a technique. My light to dark waves are created by the water creating shadows on the water where the sunlight is blocked as the water curls upon itself, plus my popped clouds create shadows on the card front.
11) FS656 - Featured Stamper/ Sparkly and Sweet - 9/1/19. Julie's wavy water waves and colors caught my eye, with an eye to using my new stamp & die set...Waves of Inspiration: You Rock! I kept Julie's color scheme and waves, but changed from watercoloring to a stamped water image colored with blender brush inking. I did not include a ship, but focused on the watery scenery.
12) MMTPT523 - Teapot Challenge/ Summer Fun - 7/31/18. Challenge: feature anything beachy on card. Ocean waves are definitely found at the beach! I'm late to the party, so my card will be for my sons Father's Day card.
13) F4A436 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Ride the Waves - 6/29/18. Challenge: use ocean or water theme. Mine features one gigantic ocean wave!
14) CAS465 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ World Travel - 1/22/18. Challenge: show sort of travel...beach, planes, boats, trains, etc. My card depicts travel to the beach.

Love the ocean wave stamp and your card is great. I am sorry you had a bit of trouble with your block and ink but you certainly got that changed and made a beautiful Father's Day card.

Carlene, you can add S2S22JUL on the challenge list. I have the wave set and have not used it yet. So little time, so many stamps. I love the summer vibe of this card. Great real life colour on the wave.

Beautiful card and a great save on that wave -- I think it's rather spectacular too. And, high-five on drawing in the seagulls. Love that you used gradients of gray on that. Wonderfully done all around.
