Color Challenge - CC901 - A Really Basic Point - June 21, 2022
I really dug hard through my stash and some scraps to find these exact Stampin' Up colors for Real Red and Pacific Point from about 4 years ago - Designer Series Paper is from 2018.
I cut an A2 sized piece from Pacific Point and then cut white cardstock with a scallop stitched rectangle die. Then I cut out the hearts from the white piece with the hearts panel die. I used the hearts panel die two more times from Real Red cardstock and from the Pacific Point designer series paper (DSP). This allowed me to do the inlay technique, placing the colored hearts into the cutouts of the white panel.
I stamped, colored, and die cut the cat, which I added to the lower right corner holding a red heart. Following the pattern of the inlay, this would have been a spot for a red heart (covered up by the cat), so the cat is holding the heart instead (a smaller size, same red cardstock).
I stamped the sentiment in gray to match the cat and stay in the same neutral color family. I do not have ink colors that are an exact match for the red or the blue, so the gray works instead.

Wow! I love everything about this card! The inlay technique is expertly done, and the cat is adorable. I love that he's placed so that he's holding the "missing" heart, and the greeting is just perfect!

Such a cute kitty and a very pretty card. For future reference you just need to get colours as close as possible to the SU ones listed in the challenge. I play along sometimes and have very little from SU to use but tons of other stuff!!
