This card was made for a sketch challenge that also had the option to add three textures to your design. Somehow my brain saw the sketch and thought it looked like a house, so I went with that theme BIG TIME. I fussy cut the house shape after stamping a wood grain image with Stampin' Up! (SU) Crumb Cake ink.
The three horizontal elements represent three parts of a home... it's patio/porch, the brick walls, and the herringbone patterned roof. I created all three of these by inking up three embossing folders and running them through my Big Shot.
The "gable" on the roof is a triangle that I cut and wrote the sentiment on using my Brother ScanNCut CM350 digital cutting/drawing machine. Believe it or not, this was the hardest part of the project since I had cut the house shape out, and had to figure out the size of the triangle and words that would fit inside it!
The card background is a fall tree pattern that I chose because of the colors that complemented the house and card base cardstock colors. I've sworn to try and use more of my pattern paper this year since I've got more than I can store in my paper rack. So finding a pattern in the 2010 retired SU "Sweat Pea" that would make a good background for a house was helping me meet my 2022 New Year's resolution!
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of all the steps required with the three different inked embossing folders. I probably over-thought making this card since I was trying to make every element play off on the "new home" theme,,, but I met the challenge's goal and used up some of my pattern paper, so it's a win!
