I created this card as a commission from a friend for her to give as a graduation card. The girl who is graduating wants to save for a car, so I thought the "Vintage Van" image would be perfect.
I stamped the van on a scrap of watercolor paper & painted it. I die cut it with the coordinating die. The background was inspired by Channin Pelletier's lesson on Day 1 of Online Card Classes' Spring Card Camp 2022. The stencil I used for that is an old one by The Crafters Workshop, but I don't know the name.
I cut the inked background down a bit (the full panel was a complete rainbow), so it would look like a sunset/sunrise sky. I adhered it & a piece of black cardstock to a white 5x7" cardstock panel. After I glued the van down, I used a white gel pen & yellow Galaxy (opaque) marker to draw the road markings. I actually had to google highway markings, because I couldn't remember in that moment which were yellow & which were white! LOL
I die cut the balloons from navy cardstock, & the numbers from gold glitter paper. I had actually managed to lose the "0" from the number set when I was first cutting the dies apart, so I substituted the letter "O" from the corresponding alphabet set. I glued the numbers to the balloons, & then glued the balloons to the card. To give the strings something to attach to (visually), I drew a roof rack on top of the van with a black felt-tip pen. I used gold cording for the balloon strings. I poked a hole in the background panel behind each balloon neck, & another on the roof rack. I threaded the cording through the holes, and taped the ends on the back of the panel. Finally, I tied tiny bows from the same cording, & glued them to the balloons. Then I glued the card front panel to a white card base.
