I made an entirely different chalk pastel background with a whole different water friends theme in mind, and I still might finish that card and post it for both challenges, but I was making some extra background and this idea hit and I had to do it!
I embossed white cardstock with the circles/bubbles folder and used my xacto knife to shave several shades of blue onto a paper plate. I used a blender brush to rub them onto the embossed piece and once happy with it, I sprayed with matte fixative and put it aside to dry.
I stamped the image (from the $2.00 bins at Joann) on white cardstock, colored with alcohol markers, and cut out with an xacto knife. I cut a rectangle shape from a scrap of hot pink cardstock and rounded the corners, then embossed with the diagonal lines folder to make a âpool floatâ. I glued the girl image to the float and attached the float to the background with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on another white scrap and cut it out and attached, then mounted the whole piece on the front of a white premade card base. Pretty happy with it now but as Iâm writing this Iâm thinking I might add a couple of sequinsâ¦

Cool card, great idea. It reminds me of summer holidays in Greece. I have always liked the softness of a chalk background, and it's a great way of getting subtle colour variation. I used to work in import and distribution of fine art supplies, and have two sets of broken chalk pastels from the "damaged goods" corner.
