My sample for the Color Challenge hosted by Chris. She selected two greens and a brown with the dessert option to use an animal. I thought right away about my recent purchase of the Nuts about Squirrels set that I had not even opened yet. I love how the challenges inspire me to use my new things!
The squirrel outline was stamped in Memento black, the body was stamped in Soft Suede. The branch is Soft Suede and the leaves are Garden Green, Soft Seafoam and Garden Green stamped off. I wanted the acorn to stand out, so I used some neutrals. I filled in the base of the acorn with Merry Merlot stamped off with Crumb Cake, which turned out reddish-brown. The acorn cap is Merry Merlot stamped off with Soft Suede for a darker brown.
The background is dry embossed. I brushed Garden Green ink onto the EF before embossing. I like how it looks. I sponged a little Garden Green at the base of my squirrel and added some pebbles. The panel is die-cut. Lastly, I applied some black crystal drops to the squirrels eye and nose.
I hope you give these colors a try and have fun with it. TFL

Diane, I love the cute expression on this adorable squirrel. You nailed the nature theme with your embossed leafy background, too! Great birthday card!

This little guy is a cutie!! And I love that die - the whimsy one - do you just cut around it after it embosses? I was using it the other day and realized it does not actually cut out, right? Anyway your card is really cute!

I love this mischievous looking little guy and he is SO cute the way you've done him. I had envisioned a textured seafoam background like you used but ran out of room. It's lovely to see it here!

this little squirrel is just too cute and he has a little "bad boy" look on his face - your background embossing is beautiful- so perfect for the squirrel image
