I chose to make my card a "center step" fold, but using the new "faux center step" approach. You can find an excellent video tutorial by Kelly Acheson at: https://astampabove.typepad.com/my-b...lay-22722.html The part of the video that focuses on this fun fold card starts at 1:09. Her measurements are all listed near the bottom of her tutorial blog page.
The fun thing about this card is that while it does require a little more cardstock than the true "center side step" card, it is SO much easier and requires no fancy cuts!
I chose the beautiful Stampin' Up! (SU) "New Horizons" pattern paper for the background panels. I wanted an African safari theme, so chose the pattern with the darker green horizon and sand-colored foreground. I used the trees from the matching SU "On the Horizon" stamp set, and stamped them with dark green ink.
Since we are on a safari, I needed an African animal. I chose the giraffe from the retired 2003 "In the Wild" stamp set, and stamped it using a medium brown ink. There are not matching dies for this older stamp, so I fussy cut the giraffe out by hand, and glued him in the foreground of the scene on the center panel. At the top of the panel I stamped my sentiment from the same set as the dark green trees.
Before assembly, I ran the entire front panel through my Big Shot using the SU "Tasteful Textile" embossing folder. This gave a nice soft canvas feel to the scene.
The final step was to assemble the card... which is super easy.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" since Kelly's measurements and video tutorial are so straightforward.
