This card was made for a sketch challenge that also had the optional part to use bold colors. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use bright flowers for the circle elements. The Stampin' Up! (SU) die set "Pierced Blooms" were perfect because of their stitched pattern for flower details.
I decided to use black and white as the card front, then chose SU Pumpkin Pie cardstock to be the card base to sort of tied the different shades of orange in the flowers together. Speaking of the flowers, they and their leaves were die cut from shimmer paper by DCWV that I bought at Michaels.
The sentiment is from the SU "Friendly Hello" stamp set I received as a gift from Debbie Mageed for one of her "Creative Creases" ( https://secretstamper.com/category/c...ses-challenge/ ) card challenges. Thank you, Debbie!!
I used the label die from the same die set as the flowers to cut out the sentiment. However, since the die is too tall (and I had limited space to include a sentiment on my card front), I positioned the die "off center" vertically so that it cut just a bit above the first line of text, then ran the die and label through my Big Shot again with the bottom of the die positioned to cut up close to the bottom of the last line of text. This gave me a label that was less tall, so when I cut the mat from orange cardstock, I had a nice border top and bottom to accent the sentiment.
I am rating the difficulty level of this car as a "2" out of a possible "5" since most of the design is simply die cutting and gluing things together. If you are an experienced card maker, it would be a level "1".
