This belated birthday card is always handy to have on hand. It was made for a sketch challenge whose optional theme is "floral".
I chose to create the background using distress oxide inks that I applied using a blending brush, then spritzed with water to create a speckled look. On top of this I glued a die cut from the Stampin' Up! (SU) "Potted Succulents" die set. I applied the glue with a craft sponge dipped lightly in glue then dabbed on the back until the leafy die-cut was covered evenly. I then trimmed the panel and glued to the front of a 4-1/4"x 5-1/2" standard card base of the same green as the die-cut.
The banner was die cut from SU Flirty Flamingo cardstock and glued to the card front.
The flowers were die cut from SU Calypso Coral, Sweet Sugarplum and Balmy Blue cardstock using the SU "Pierced Blooms" die set. They were glued to the banner per the challenge sketch.
Finally, I stamped the sentiment using the SU "Itty Bitty Birthdays" stamp set. Since I hadn't stamped the sentiment before I assembled the card, I used my SU Stamparatus stamp positioner to help center the sentiment and get a good solid black imprint. I'd advise you stamp your sentiment on the banner BEFORE assembling the card,,,, but at the time, I wasn't quite sure what the intended use would be until I saw how short my space to stamp was. That kind of dictated what sentiment would fit. It never hurts to have an extra belated birthday card on hand, though, so all's well that ends well!
I am rating the difficulty level for this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" since it involves several techniques and requires some patience to glue down the green floral die-cut background without making a mess of the glue :-D
