I made this to send to my BIL who was just diagnosed with stage 4 prostrate cancer and goes in for surgery this week. I thought a little visual humour might be the best option...
The fussy-cut rat has been on my desk for quite some time now, unused from another project. The cat was stamped directly on the base and masked before doing the floor. Stamped the sentiment, then stencilled the background to make it a little less stark. Cut with a stitched square and added to a plain white base

That is sad news, I'm sorry. But I love the message this sends...hope the rat gets away. I've been contemplating this challenge for the past few days, I don't feel like I'm good at scenes but I'll figure something out.

The cat feels hopeful while the rat is fearful. In your bil's case, I wish him the very best. The way he views this matter will play a huge role in his healing process. Sending Hugs~

Bringing smiles is always a lift for those who are struggling. That rat is so darn cute, and I hope he makes it past that terrifying cat. Prayers for your brother in law and successful surgery this week.

Your card is great and is bound to make your BIL feel happier anyway. I love your idea of the faint stenciling on the background - definitely going to borrow this idea.
