Here is the tutorial on how to paint a loose feather.
I followed the basic steps using a combination of Dark Teal and Apple green. Once the original teal "spatter and smear" was down I used Kosher salt to add texture. While it didn't bloom as beautifully as it usually does for me on my Canson XL WC paper, it did leave some spots and speckles. Used the #4 Long Round brush to add all the fine line barbs to the feather. Googled "anatomy of a feather" to learn that bit - Finished with some random splatters and edge my painting with a black sharpie then double matted with colors as close to my paint choices as possible.

This is so pretty. ( hmmm, cannot remember the exact name of it but, we did have an evergreen that turned burnt dead orange every winter in front of the front door of this house when we bought it ( it was removed after two winters of that) hahaha. this sentiment is so cool. I love that too.

It's beautiful, Linda. Your barbs and the colors are so pretty. Wonderful sentiment, also.

Beautifully done, Linda. Love the graceful movement you created. Like how you did the salt background. Lovely sentiment. Happy to see you had a chance to join the challenge this week, and again gave us a beauty in the gallery. TFS
