I didnât get to do the Featured Stamper challenge last weekend so here is my belated tribute to Lynn/starzlmom28 and her fabulous collection of cards. I saved five or six as CASE-zing possibilities but finally settled on this one:
I had originally planned a pretty straightforward rendition of the original including the black and white color scheme, but my eagerness to make a dent in the older paper pad, and to play with the dies from the Beautiful Shapes set took me in a different direction, from shapes to color scheme to card orientation. I did keep some of Lynnâs elements, including the dry embossed background, and the edge strip with geometric shapes on solid colored cardstock.
The greeting strip was from one of those pages in a paper pad that has a bunch of different sentiments, and that was my starting point. I chose several scraps from the pad in similar colors and die cut multiple hexagons from them. I chose the light green, dark yellow, and red cardstock pieces from my scrap bin to match the colors in the sentiment. I dry embossed the green piece with a hexagon embossing folder and attached it to a kraft card. I glued the hexagons to the dark yellow strip and glued that to the green layer. I added the sentiment with foam tape after gluing a dark red cardstock strip under it to set it off.
If I had it to do over I might ink the edges of the various layers to distinguish them more, but overall Iâm pretty happy with it. This is going in the birthday cards for seniors stash. A lot of the recipients are sight impaired so I like to have some cards with bright colors and lots of texture.
USEIT2022- lots of cardstock scraps (if you look real close that red strip is some embossed cardstock left over from valentine cardmaking!) and working on using that Simple Stories pad. The embossing folder is one of my oldest, bought in a big batch of folders from China when I first got my Big Shot about five years ago.

Very nice birthday card! I like that you are keeping the seniors in mind when you design your cards. I try to keep the contrast up so they are easier to see. Love the colours and textures of your card. Great tribute to the FS!

Fun card and I like the bright colors -- perfect for seniors and versatile for masculine or feminine. Adore the Happy Birthday banner and the dps you chose look wonderful accenting the banner. Wonderful card and equally wonderful that you are sharing it with seniors who might not have anyone left to celebrate them. Brava!
