We're all about birds this week on SCS. I couldn't fit a bird onto yesterday's card, but that's OK because we're challenged to use birds again today! We're also challenged to use background stamps. This Geometric Swirl background is probably my favorite background stamp. I used it on a gelli plate to make a mixed media background. First, I printed the digi and die cut the stitched postage stamp die. Then I masked the image and applied washi tape around the edges to keep them white. I knew I was going to want two cards, so I had to cut two masks. That was the hardest part of making this card. I applied Speckled Egg DOX ink to the gelli plate and just took a plain print of that. Then I applied glitter acrylic paint and set the stamp into the paint. I stamped one card with the painted stamp (not pictured) and pulled a print of the negative with this one. Then I removed the masks and colored with SN and Copic Markers. I reached for another background stamp (French Script) to add some interest to my card base. A coworker's father-in-law just passed, so I needed a sympathy card. I really like the way this came out. I hope it brings comfort to her and her family.
I got some better photos of the sparkle of the background on my blog The Stamping Actuary
