As I was going through a pile of scraps looking for papers for the other cards I made today, I pulled out a piece of striped paper that had all three of todayâs color challenge colors in it and knew I would use this for my card. I also had randomly picked a sketch from my Pinterest Card Sketches board as a challenge to myself:
(Very technical method: close eyes and scroll down the board on my iPad, touch the screen, open eyes and see what Iâm gonna be using!)
I found cardstock in close to the challenge colors in the same scrap pile (the pink is a little dark but not as dark as it looks in the pic)âthe only new piece of paper I started was the mint green cardstock, which I used to cover the white card base. I cut a rectangle of the pink and embossed it with the leaf folder that also cuts a few random bits.I used a diamond embossing folder to emboss the strip of peachy/orange paper and rounded the one corner and attached both to the card front.
I die cut the butterfly from the striped paper and again from thin cardstock to give it a little support. I glued the two die cuts together and then glued to the card, offset, and trimmed off the excess. The sentiment was supposed to be on a banner across the butterfly but that end was looking crowded and then other end of the card was a little too bare so I opted to dig out an old vertical âhelloâ stamp and used fuschia ink to stamp it there. Debating adding a couple of sequins but I feel that Iâm already at the far edge of CAS so Iâm stopping here! (And yes, Iâm including it under CAS674 because butterflies live outside!)
USEIT2022: scrap box! Also Hello stamp is at least 10 years old, and the Spellbinders butterfly die and embossing folder were bought in a sale binge last summer but had only been used once apiece so far.

I love your 'very technical method' of selecting a sketch... teehee! I will have to give it a try sometime! Your dsp butterfly is a great idea, it creates a great focal point for your design! Thank you for participating in this week's challenge, I enjoyed reading your post as well! TFS

Giggling along with LeAnn at your "very technical method". But it looks like it works well especially for this card. Love the striped butterfly and the pairing with all the embossed textures. Sweet card for a friend.

Pretty butterfly in stripes. Good for you using scraps. I like how the embossed panel shows through the color underneath. Fun way to challenge yourself on different layouts! Great card. Terrific use of the challenge colors.
