Jacob Marley's Ghost
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: jkanack

Of all the Christmas movies/tv specials etc., I love A Christmas Carol the best. My favorite is the 1951 Alistair Sim version, although I do like the Muppet Christmas Carol too and Scrooge (the musical) with Albert Finney is fun. In the past five years, I have read the book every year. Funny how I've seen so many versions but never read the book. It's quite fun, although I have to look up certain words, traditions etc. that I don't know about.

For today's WT, I decked the oval with some holly and berries. I thought that was appropriate since Scrooge said "if I could work my will, every idiot, who goes around with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart." Rather graphic, wouldn't you say??!!

This is also for Lee's VSN-Ghosts! My immediate thought was Jacob Marley and, because she asked for something transparent, I made an acetate tent card. I have a facsimile version of the actual book that was published so I copied the drawing of Scrooge and Marley and the page of the book. I lucked out by finding the UK stamp of the Fezziwigs...I think it came out in 1993, which was the 150th anniversary of ACC.

Here is more ACC trivia: Dickens wrote it in 6 weeks, ostensibly for the money because he was in dire straits, and it sold 6,000 copies in just a few days. I think he did alright with it.

I would say we all need 'God's or whomever your higher power's blessing' right about now!

The acetate tent was a great take on Lee's challenge. I just got the Albert Finney one from the library a couple of weeks ago, after hearing Scrooge's song on a radio program. I like the foliage contrasting with the black and white image of Scrooge.

Such a great MM card. I like all the layers and your spin on Christmas Carol. I love the book and movie. Interesting fact about Dickens. Merry Xmas Jean. Have a wonderful time and keep safe and well. Hugs

A very vintage card reflecting times gone bye. So much to look at and take in.
