I started a Travel the World card series in 2019, committing to virtually visit a different randomly-selected country each week (for 50 weeks), gathering tidbits of information about the country. I love to travel and this is one way I can "visit" countries that I might otherwise never see. As I learn about each country, I choose something about that country as inspiration for a card.
There are 195 countries in the world. In the first two years of this series I "visited" 100 countries, and intended to visit 50 more this year, leaving 45 for next year. Life got in the way and I decided to step back these past few weeks. Therefore this is my 45th (and last) country for this year. I'll do the last 50 in 2022.
This card is inspired by Colombia, which holds the distinction of being the place that experiences the most annual rainfall of anywhere in the world. On average, the rural town of Loro, Colombia drowns in about 43 feet of rainfall every year.
