Continuing my theme of using up little scraps, I made a sheet of paper pieced strips using various pink pattern paper scraps. I die cut several larger heart designs which will be used later when I really get into Valentines Day cards. I had a lot of the in-between stuff left after die cutting so I decided to use the tiniest heart from the set and see how many little bitty hearts I could squeeze out of the scraps of my scraps! I came up with nine so decided to make a nine patch quilt design, and decided to do it tonight because there was no way I was not gonna lose some of those little bitty hearts if I didnât get them glued down to something immediately! Also wanted a âthinking of youâ card for my mother in law, who has friends and relatives trying to stir up drama at the momentâjust in time for Christmas!
anyway, back to the card. I cut 9 squares from white cardstock and glued a heart to each one. Then I cut a larger square from some leftover fuschia patterned paper, arranged the little squares on it and glued them all down, then ran the piece through a Cuttlebug folder that isnât really a quilting pattern but gives a lovely quilted effect!
I set the quilt piece aside to make the card. The wood grain paper is from a Ms Sparkle & Co pad from the dollar bins at Joanns. I wish Iâd gotten two of that pad, that wood paper is good for everything! I wanted a weathered look so I inked the edges of the pattern paper and the card with some Stormy Sky distress Oxide. I layered the wood grain paper onto the card and added a piece of pink scrap before using foam tape to attach the quilt. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and cut it out and layered it onto the same fuschia paper as the base of the quilt.
Thanks for looking!
