Many months ago, I was fiddling with my Marianne zebra die about the time I was making last year's granddaughter birthday cards. I die-cut several sets of zebra parts, and though this zebra girl turned out darn cute, I decided on 3D ballerina girls instead! I got side-tracked and never decided what to do with little zebra girl, so she's been lurking in my unfinished stash every since!
Recently I came upon a challenge that basically said use it, finish it or just throw it out. I spotted the little zebra and knew she was not meant for the garbage; therefore I was motivated to find her a home!
My youngest granddaughter will be two in mid-November, and I wanted her card finished early to be sure it was on time! Her birthday party theme will be butterflies, and though zebras don't exactly fit a butterfly theme, I thought I could make it work! What if I made a scene with butterflies flitting around the scene? I even added balloons to flit along too!
I used recycled rainbow foil from a birthday party hat previously worn by this very granddaughter. Though it was torn a little, I saved it as the perfect recycle paper to on a card for her in the future. The balloons and butterflies were the perfect thing! Take a look at Evie's finished card above both inside and out. I'm pretty pleased with the results and think she will LOVE it!
(NOTE: the recycled rainbow foil birthday hat paper had some rubbed/ marred areas in its sheen. Wink of Stella-Clear brushed lightly and evenly with vertical strokes over the die-cuts restored an unmarred surface. As the surface was also like an alcohol inked substance, I used the Wink's brush very lightly and did not saturate the surface...used smooth, even strokes).

And how could she not love this....it's ADORABLE. Love all the element and especially love that some were personal to her like the party hat upcycle. Such a fun card for a young girl, especially a beloved GD.
