This is a Christmas card design by Luci Kirschbaum from a Stampin' Up card class I attended at the end of September. I brought it home to think about what more it needed, if anything, before I said for sure that it was finished. It was sitting in my unfinished Christmas cards for almost two month when two SCS challenges prompted me to revisit it. One, to make up my mind what I wanted to do. . .leave it as is or add something more. (That challenge actually suggested finishing it or throwing it out, and that I did not want to do!) The second, to make a card with something taller than me..."Brilliant, I say, that geometric tree card...the trees are taller than me!"
The design is geometric, not normally my style especially in a Christmas card, but somehow I found this card very appealing. I decided I liked it, but maybe it needed a little sparkle and be larger to fit the card size I generally prefer. I added some rhinestone tree toppers for sparkle and a new Always Artichoke card base, enlarging its size to 4-3/4 x 6-inches. I do like the sparkle, extra color, and layering that I added to tweak just a little.
Playing my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking, I was able to find 15 challenges that my card would fit. They are listed below:
1) F4A612 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Taller Than You & Me - 11/12/21. Challenge: Feature something that represents something taller than yourself. I think the Christmas Trees and evergreen trees definitely are taller than you!
2) AOCC21 - All Occasions Card Challenge/ November 2021 - 11/1/21. Monthly challenge encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards! This is one of if for my 2021 Christmas card stash goal for November.
3) USEIT2021 - Use It Challenge/ November 2021 - 11/1/21. Ongoing/ annual challenge requiring use of OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased but never used and seemingly forgotten! My OLD/NEW items are the Stitched Triangle dies and Evergreen Forest embossing folders. Both purchased in mid-2020 and needing to be used for the first time!
4) WT868 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Let's Get Tri-Angular - 10/28/21. Challenge: use a triangle die or make a triangle shaped card. My Christmas trees are made from three sizes of triangle dies.
5) S2S21OCT - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another)/ Use It or Lose It - 10/1/21. Challenge: Finish up partially started cards or get rid of them. With this challenge, I pulled out a Christmas card I started back in September to decide if it was finished or needed anything more. I added a new card base color layer and rhinestones to finish it off.
6) MMTPT633 - Teapot Challenge/ In the Heart of Texas - 9/3/20. Challenge: use a pattern on your card. Cookies: add a star for the Lone Star state where the teapotters reside. My pattern is repeated, embossed BG trees + the zebra patterned paper. Stars are included on one of patterned papers and represented by the sparkly rhinestone tree toppers. As I'm late to the party, my card, a Christmas hello card, will go to of one of our masculine friends.
7) SCSCCAPR20 - Fan Club Christmas Challenges/ April 2020--GRAY - 4/1/20. Challenge: to feature the color gray on your card! My card features a gray layer, gray triangled Christmas trees, and a gray sentiment band.
ABC10E26 - Alphabet Challenge/ Letter E - 2/20/20. My Letter E = Evergreen Forest embossing folder; Evening Evergreen cardstock color. (I did not go for the "earth" double challenge).
9) IC741 - Inspiration Challenge/ The Manor - 2/15/20. I chose this inspiration for the 3 trees: Christmas Trees Shiplap!
10) FS650 - Featured Stamper Challenge/ She's One of the Peanuts Gang (aka peppermintpatty/ Karen) - 7/21/19. Karen's gallery has lots of wonderful colored images and cards! I chose: Let It Snow! I was inspired by the theme and the background trees. Kept: Christmas theme and background trees, but mine are dry embossed not stamped. Added die-cuts (tree trio) and pattered paper. No image coloring, sponging, or shading.
11) CAS513 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Stitch It Up - 12/24/18. Challenge: create a card with stitching...type of stitching is your choice. My stitching was created on the trees by a die.
12) SC704 - Sketch Challenge - 7/4/18. My three triangle trees represent the three rectangles.
13) MIX272 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Sketch Inspiration - 4/13/18. Used 3-triangle tree grouping to represent half circle; moved them from right side to left side. Mediums: stamping dye-based ink, charcoal pigment ink--edge-distressing tree edges, Chatterbox verse=computer ink (inside).
14) CCC17OCT - Christmas Card Challenge / Background Choice - 10/1/17. Challenge: make your own BG of choice; add ornaments. I used a dry embossed BG and added a tree topper ornament of rhinestones.
15) CT0817 - Fan Club Monthly Themes--August 2017/ Great Lengths - 8/15/17. My card depicts the theme idea of something that runs the full length of the card panel. My embossing folder has embossed evergreen trees that run from side-to-side of the horizontal card + a sentiment horizontal band that runs from side-to-side.

The challenge queen has struck again! This card is very contemporary and cool. The triangle trees go really well with the embossed trees in the bg. Love the colour combo too.

This is So Beautiful, Carlene! I love the simplicity, which is not what you normally do, but it's so effective with your embossed trees in the bg. I like the added framing and your triangle trees are different and fun~
