Today's Tea Party is for Lisa's Nephew in the Navy, who is recovering from stress fractures while he waits to graduate from basic training. I was very excited to make him a patriotic card. Lisa challenged us to put smiles on our cards, so I reached for these smiling dogs. Aren't they fun? And I included a smile sentiment. This also fits Kim's VSN challenge. I think it's especially good for her MASH themed challenge with the flags. I stamped the dogs and used the technique that we used for one of the very early WCW challenges which was to keep layering different colors of watercolor by using the lightest color all over the whole thing, then using the next colors on other parts, the next color on fewer parts, and so on. It was a fun and easy way to color this image. I finished with red, white and blue bows and collars to coordinate with the fun flag DP. I hope William likes this card and that he's ready to move to the next phase of his Navy career soon!

Great image, fun flag background and what a great pun. That technique sounds like a great way of colouring an image like that, I must try it with my Newton's Nook cat one.

Awesome card. That image is so adorable and smile-inducing. The WC technique worked like a charm and looks fab here. And, that flag dp is great. I beat you use that a lot around the patriotic holidays Perfect touch for this card. I also love that you used dogs for Lisa's nephew as Lisa makes so many dog cards herself. I think you've captured everything: patriotic, smiles, great sentiment, nod to Aunt Lisa, fun scene. Fab job.

Oh my gosh Jen William is absolutely going to love this card. He has 2 large dogs and missed them so much. This is just perfect for him. Thank you so much for sending happy mail to my sweet nephew. This means the world to me that my crafty friends are taking the time to send him some mail to cheer him up.

Love your patriotic background .... such a great idea to send William a whole kennel full of smiling pups to encourage him!
