Shades Of Purple Hand-Stitched Birthday

Photo Details
Poster: 905lovestostamp

This is not part of the collection of approximately 50 hand-stitched cards that I created a few years ago mainly for my Mom. This is a newly stitched panel that I chose to make into a birthday card for a dear friend, who is the step-Dad of a close friend who has been in heaven for many years. This was made for Yvon, one of the kindest and loveliest of men I am proud to call Yvon and his wife, Dot dear, dear friends!

Perhaps purple seems an odd choice for a masculine card, but I, like most choose the colours and the style based on what will please the card recipient. For one, I think that Yvon is absolutely someone who can handle a card made in royal purple as well as other varying purple shades, plus a wonderful sparkling silver Happy Birthday message. Inside is a statement that absolutely fits this great friend that says You Are The Best--that was die-cut from SSS holographic aqua cardstock that is so beautiful. Purple is also the favourite colour of his much-beloved wife, Dot, so it was even more tempting to use a purple hand-stitched panel from the selection of completed stitched panels that I have stitched. I love both of these friends dearly, and I miss them a lot, as I have not been back to eastern Canada in a few years. This card arrived late, but it was sent with lots of love for Dot and Yvon, gratitude for our friendship, and prayers for their health and safety during these uncertain and unusual times.

I enjoyed using variegated purple yarn on this panel in a favourite stitch pattern that I discovered while learning basic stitches, and it is a very simple stitch pattern. I would dearly love to learn some of the more intricate patterns that Jennifer McGuire creates so well, and I keep hoping that she will choose to do an online class on these geometric patterns that I would love to learn to create. I owe Jennifer McGuire a great deal as she taught me almost everything I needed to learn about stitching, other than what I saw my mother create over many decades, as my Mom is a very talented cross-stitch artist.

I thank you most sincerely for taking a closer look at my hand-stitched card. When you leave a comment on one of my cards, it absolutely makes my day, and it is a huge encouragement for any artist to leave a comment, so I would encourage you when you see a card that you really like or if you are curious about how something was made, please consider leaving a comment.
