Do you know how hard it is to find plain white tissue paper? I needed some for a project a couple of weeks ago, and I tried FIVE stores before I got some, including dollar store type, gift and card shops and art shops. So I was glad I had it on hand today.
I didn't fully follow Eric Carle's process - I just put blue and red (and two shades of green) gouache paint on my palette and brushed them onto the tissue, making sure they weren't fully mixed. When the sheets of tissue were dry I tore them up and collaged them onto a sheet of paper.
When that was dry, I stamped the large poppy and cut it out. I added gilding flakes in the centre. I cut the leaves and edged them and added veins with a gold pen.
Looked through my stash and pulled out this, which was a monoprint done with a stencil after I had been using glass bead gel and Brushos. To add definition I framed it with strips cut from a piece of black glossy card with Lumiere paints on it. I added dots of liquid pearls in flamingo and blue in the bottom part of the card, and Stickles dots in the upper more open part.

I love your poppy! The guilding flakes are a wonderful addition. You know when I made my card I used already made gel prints so that's an idea if there's no plain tissue paper available. The black strips really define the bg and show off your creation.
