Color Challenge hosted by Chris: Night of Navy, Cinnamon Cider, Petal Pink. No dessert for me this time.
Every year I add a stamp to my modest collection from PSX, a company that is no longer in business. This lighthouse stamp is my most recent addition. I do not think that I would have thought of these colors for it, but as I began to gather my supplies, I saw the stamp sitting on my desk and I was inspired. I took a break from the holidays and created a nautical birthday card.
The image was stamped in Night of Navy. With a barely damp water brush, I watercolored the scene being extremely careful to not touch the stamped lines since the navy ink is not water resistant. I painted the cloud in the background with the Petal Pink (which is more of a peach) as if the sun was rising and coloring the horizon. I opted to leave the sky alone to keep the focus on the scene. It was interesting to color this image for the first time with a challenging method and also because it is so tiny.
I die-cut the panel, stamped a sentiment and applied a little Wink of Stella to the water and lighthouse windows. Then I layered the panel with DSP & an embossed strip onto a white layer and added a shaped brad. Finished with a navy card base.
Great colors. I look forward to seeing what everyone creates. Look around, you may find something that inspires you in an unexpected way. TFL

Beautiful! Your BG is the perfect foil for your fabulous stamped and painted scene. Stunning design, crisp and clean looking. The anchor at the bottom is awesome...

Diane, I LOVE THIS CARD!!!!!! Your use of the dark blue patterned designer paper sets off the beautiful lighthouse scene. The layout is perfect! It is the perfect masculine card but I love lighthouses so it would thrill me to receive it.

This is such an appealing design with the plaid and embossing. I like this little lighthouse - I cherish my PSX stamps! I love your delicate watercoloring and bits of shimmer!
