This card was made for a challenge that has three parts: 1. Include a special day, 2. Use numbers, 3. Partner with another card challenge.
As you might guess from my card, I chose the December 25th "National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day", which is one of the whacky holidays you can find at "Humor at Work" ( https://mikekerr.com/fun-wacky-silly...-and-holidays/ ).
I started with a red piece of cardstock cut to 4"x 5-/12", and cut a "V" in the center top starting at 1" from either shoulder down to the center at 1-1/2" down.
I wanted the sweater to be in poor taste, so cut two pine tress using Stampin' Up!'s beautiful "Card Front Builder" dies. I glued the trees to the front of the sweater, then cut two yellow stars using the same die set and glued them at the top of each tree. Since part of the challenge was to include a date or number, I die cut "25" using Spellbinder's alpha-numeric dies and glued them to the top of the sweater.
Since I had some layers that made the card a bit thicker, I sprayed it lightly with water, then used Stampin' Up! (SU) "Cable Knit" 3D embossing folder and embossed the entire sweater piece on my Big Shot. It turned out really cool with the deeply embossed image.
The next step was to create the "ribbing" for the next and bottom edges. I did this by cutting a 1/2" wide piece of red cardstock, then using a scoring tool on my Scor-Pal scored the strip every 1/8". You'll need 4 pieces that are slightly longer than these measurements to create your ribbing: two at 4-1/2" for center vertical ribbing and bottom ribbing, and two pieces at 2-1/2". After I glued them in place, I used scissors to trim to fit along the outside edges.
The "buttons" are red brads that I added button holes to using a Sharpie Ultra Fine black marker.
The sentiment tag was created using my Brother ScanNCut and a nested lace edged tag file. I created the file from a free download, and added the wording using the "draw" function of my machine along with the font called "Candy Cane" that I downloaded for free from DaFont.com.
The tag was tucked into one of the button holes using yellow jute twine.
Finally, the sweater was glued to the front of a top opening A2 card base.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of all the steps required. None are hard, but it took some time to accomplish them all.
