My SIL's birthday was at the end of September. She & my brother have 2 dogs, Glennis & Yeager, and I always make a card for her "from" them. As far as coloring them goes, I think this is the best I've done yet, if I do say so myself!
I found a dog image online. It has become ever more difficult not to repeat the same images, since many clipart images seem to be specific breeds, not just the "Heinz 57" variety like their dogs. I created a blank "canvas" in Photoshop, and added the dog image to that. I duplicated that layer & flipped it horizontally to get another dog facing the other direction. I positioned that dog behind the first. I added 2 thought bubbles that I'd also found online. I had found the greeting text by doing a Google search. I discovered it is also not easy to find greetings FROM a dog. (Most of them were TO dogs, oddly enough.) I typed the greeting portions into their respective thought bubbles, formatted the words to fit, & finally printed the images/text onto a panel of vellum bristol.
I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the dogs to look like Glennis & Yeager. I die cut a banner from smooth bristol paper, & colored the flags in rainbow colors using my Tombow markers. I wanted to add a bit of baker's twine to "hang" the flags from. So I trimmed the "string" portion in the die cut a little narrower so it wouldn't show from behind the twine. To keep the liquid glue I used to stick down the twine from reactivating the ink, I added a coat of Distress Micro Glaze to the flags. I glued the banner across the top of my panel, & glued on the twine. The glue did reactivate the marker ink a bit when I added the twine, but fortunately I was able to keep that little bleed under the twine, so it doesn't really show.
I finished the greeting (again in Photoshop) on a panel I adhered on the inside of the card base. I added the paw prints & dogs' "signatures" to that panel before I printed it out. I adhered a teal mat to my card base & added the card front to that. My SIL loved this card, so in the end all the work was well worth it!
