Well I did just that & I don't think this is my best work. I don't think I like this but I'm sending it anyway.
I don't have any glossy paper (will get some soon) & don't know what yupo is, so I took the thank you card from MFT, turned it over & used the only 3 colors of alcohol ink I have. After dropping on dots of ink I sprayed with 91% alcohol. Then I laid on a piece of Neenah White paper. This is what I got. I don't like the darker brown areas. Then I die cut the leaves & hugs. Glued the leaves using spray glue. Finished the card & it will go to my SIL who is having surgery tomorrow. and there you have it.
Thanks for stopping by.

Oh how I can relate! Your attitude is the same as mine. Give it a shot and
send it no matter what. Your SIL will appreciate your loving kindness.

I think this is a beautiful Autumn card, and colors are perfect for this card, you are too hard with yourself!!, glossy paper works well I use often photo paper but yupo is the best to use with alc ink, if you don't use your inks often don't buy that paper, try cheap photo paper (glossy)

I think you did pretty well with your alcohol inks given that you didn't seem to have the right surface to use them on. Yupo is a synthetic paper with a smooth surface, so like glossy paper, the ink will move around on it, especially which alcohol. Regular paper just absorbs it too quickly. As Anita said, some people use photo paper. I do myself, but only when I want a single sort of mottled colour for leaves or flowers - again, the ink absorbs into it too quickly. I've read of people using the back of photo paper to allow a little more time for the ink to move around.
But, I think you got a great autumnal looking background which is perfect for that beautiful skeleton leaf. I hope your SIL's surgery goes well.
