This week's Featured Stamper, Mickey Roberts (aka Mickeyinpsj), has a wonderful Gallery with a ton of inspiring cards. She uses a lot of beautiful dps and wonderful layouts and designs. So, while there was much to chose from, I fell for this card: Textures & Frames -- Happy Birthday by mickeyinpsj at Splitcoaststampers
I love the colors and the grayed shades of the colors; the free almost watercolor look of the circles and those fun swiss dots. It also reminded me of a flower stamp I have owned for years and I wondered if I could recreate her look with that stamp. I ended up with two versions.
The portrait card was actually the first one I tried. I cut out a mask with my circle dies about the size of the flower stamp. I lightly daubed the ink into the mask randomly spacing the colors then went back and stamped the flower image into the circle with the same inks. Because my flower was much larger that her circles, I didn't get as many, so I thought the portrait orientation allowed more of the flowers to show. I kept close to her colors, her sentiment and the layout but instead of swiss dots I added petaled flowers and turned the card. For the second card, I stamped the flowers without the bg circles. I kept her landscape orientation, sentiment and ribbon accents but decided to use a large scallop die for the edges.
Congratulations Mickey on being selected this week's Featured Stamper. You have a beautiful Gallery and a wonderful display of dp and designs. I hope you enjoy all the cards you have inspired this week. And, I hope everyone is having a fun crafty day. TFL.

I like both! The portrait version is probably my favorite, I like the black contrast HOWEVER that scallop edge on the landscape version is adorable! I have a similar stamp, but it is a half circle of petals. Easy enough to flip it for a full circle so you have given me an idea...

Your Hero arts blossom is beautiful .... love your colors, too. Great scalloped border and your sentiment is so unique and really shouts "happy, happy birthday"! Lovely cards!

Both beautiful! Love how you stamp a card that looks like DP. Love the colors, the matting on the tall, and the scallops on the other. You are clever and your cards, always perfect!

Debbie, this is a gorgeous case of Mickey's card. I love How you masked off to create the circle for the flower background on the portrait card. The delicate scallop layer on the second card. Such a pretty color combination.

Ah, thanks for the enabling, lol. I love that scalloped A2 die on your 2nd card and the ribbon treatment you did. Both are gorgeous birthday cards and great cases!
